History

The Ala Doble Flying Ranch airport near Esparto, CA is a privately owned and held property that was built in the 1980s by well-known airshow pilot Verne Dallman. Dallman stored his show aircraft collection at the ranch.

After Dallman (1998) and subsequently his wife’s passing (2016), the property was almost sold to become a cannabis farm. However, notable aircraft historians Walt and Carlene Bowe stepped in and were able to save the property from this fate. The Bowes transformed the property into their own home and hospitable environment for their own private collection now dubbed ‘The Ala Doble Flying Collection’.

Our Mission

The collection’s goal is simple:  To allow people to view one of the premier flying condition collections of aircraft from the Golden Age of aviation, in the world.

The Ala Doble Flying Collection is a registered 501.c3b non-profit within the State of California. The collection is available to view by appointment or during one of many “open house” type events throughout the season.
